Character Name: Maria "Julchen" Beilschmidt
Nationality:East German Prussian!
Gender: Female
Birthday: January 18
Age: 24
Education: Bachelor’s degree in photography from Parsons The New School for Design in New York City, New York (Greenwich Village), with a minor in photojournalism.
Occupation: She is a freelance photographer for several magazines, mostly for fashion (and for scandals if she can). She also takes jobs where she would be able to travel the world, particularly if that job concerns her home country of Germany. She also makes amateur movies on the side with her two best friends.
Family:
Hometown: Berlin, Germany
Starting Town: New York City, USA
Brief History: Maria was born into a middle class German family in the bustling town of Berlin, Germany. She had been an unexpected arrival, and as such her parents had no idea what to do with such a child – one that had bright red eyes and silvery-white hair wasn’t that common in Germany, and she was considered rather strange and unearthly. As much as her parents tried to show affection to her, they ended up becoming unnerved by her steady crimson gaze and (apparently) devious grin. She grew up without much interaction from her parents, and while she did miss seeing them – they were always off on business trips and parties, still entirely used to having a child – Maria became independent and rather crass.
The best thing that ever happened to her in her early life was that she got a baby brother when she was about three years old. Maria loved him immediately, with his blond hair and his blue eyes. The total opposite of her. And her parents loved him, as this was the child they had wanted; they would spend more time with her little brother than with her more often. By the time she was five years old, the little Prussian girl had had enough. She was tired of feeling ignored; especially since she didn’t have very many friends.
She started to act out; little things at first, such as throwing temper tantrums and throwing things to the floor. And then it became stealing from right under people’s noses, which escalated to a point that it was out of habit she stole something. She loudly demanded to be called Julchen, and changed into a fiercely headstrong girl with the cocky attitude. She knew what she wanted, and god help you if you were in her way of getting it – she would just mow down anyone without a thought.
Her behavior worked. The Beilschmidts spent more time together as a family, but Maria still felt isolated – even as a child. And so she continued to act out, not at all cowed (or humbled, at that matter) by her father’s yelling at her to stop. This was when she delved into photography, as a way to capture this moment of them being a family for the first time as far back as she could remember.
As she hit her teenage years, Maria started to dream of traveling the world and spreading her pictures so more people could see her “awesome”. She had gained quite a reputation around her neighborhood, and was looking to find a visual arts college in the United States. Despite her parent’s protests, she was accepted into Parsons the New School for Design in New York City – “because the Americans know their shit!” – and was on her way to a new life with her plane ticket in her hand. She hasn’t seen her family since, but she does miss her little brother.
It was during her freshman year of college when she had managed to find her first photography job for an online newspaper with two models, and then all of a sudden people outside of her work were asking her to do business with them. Maria was pleasantly surprised by this, as she had also dreamed of owning her own picture business; and happily accepted any sort of offer – whether they were models or political people or whoever was being interviewed. And before she knew it, she had graduated college with a Bachelor’s Degree in her hand.
While she had wanted to venture into earning her Master’s in fashion photography, Maria stuck with her current job but had managed to find freelance photographer jobs with various others. She had never felt so proud of herself. Maria often writes letters home – addressed to her bruder and her parents – and spills immediately what had happened to her since the last time she wrote. Her longest record of waiting is seven hours; that long until she couldn’t resist writing another letter. It’s usually only Ludwig who writes back.
With her two best friends (you always meet them in college; the Bad Touch Trio), Maria often makes satirical amateur movies on the side – they’re not to be taken seriously. Her current job has her traveling the world often and she is not often able to see her friends, but with every reunion there is always something that’s thrown into chaos.
This one girl she met, a beautiful Ukrainian woman named Yekaterina Braginskaya, changed her life. Having managed to pull her into modeling, Maria found herself going back more and more to Katya - and slowly fell in love with her. She isn't too sure about what to do with finding out that she had fallen for one of her best friends.
As of now, Maria is checking off the sites she has been too around the world and trying to persuade her bruder and Katya – or her friends – to let her open an authentic German bar in Brooklyn. She likes to think of herself as the business woman, even if it’s really Ludwig doing the work. Hey, she liked her beer!
Personality: Maria has the upmost and extreme confident in herself, and only herself. No matter what you say, she will never be brought down; she always bounces back with more confidence than she had before. It’s amazing that she hasn’t run out of that yet; Maria has said herself that she has an endless supply of “awesome”, because the world would be destroyed before she loses it. She doesn’t conform herself to fit society; it is of her opinion that society should fit her instead. She won’t change her attitude for anyone. The Prussian also has a severe lack of manners for the most part, and doesn’t care to fix it. She spits at anyone who uses her real name; she likes Julchen much better. Also being rather vain, Maria is particular about her appearance – and no touching the hair! You will regret it if you do so without her explicit permission. It is a sign of trust and affection if she lets you touch her hair.
She takes on leadership – with or without force, and usually quite easily too (she takes advantage over anything that can be used against someone, and is quite a persuader if needed) – and will step all over someone to get what she wants. She is incredibly stubborn and there is nothing that can change her mind once its set and she refuses to let herself be put down; as a free “awesome” spirit, she will do what she wants, when she wants. She is very impulsive; thinking things through has never been her favorite thing to do, and quite frankly it bores her completely. Never mind that she gets bored quite easily if there’s nothing to entertain her. And if she has nothing to do within a reasonable time, she turns to her kleptomaniac – it’s funny to see people’s faces when something is stolen from right under their noses – and her somewhat pyromaniac – what, all she did was set some papers on fire! – tendencies. She’s rather unpredictable with this.
Meeting someone for the first time means that they will be subjected to her prodding and exploring and questioning (rather, the Prussian inquisition) until she has figured out every single detail she wants to know, and if she likes you – if you’re cute or adorable by her (very) high standards, you pass – she won’t be shy about showing affection at all. Though she gets horribly embarrassed if that affection is turned back to her. It should also be known that she gets jealous quite easily; anyone touching what is hers will find themselves with a broken finger if they don’t back off – and yes, this includes people. Be careful to not get on her bad side; she will hit and curse and scream at you. She holds a grudge for a very long time.
She’s very blunt as well; she will always tell you her very honest opinion, and doesn’t really care if would hurt your feelings or not. And she is rather openly emotional part of the time. She doesn’t like to admit, or show that she more often than not wears her emotions on her sleeves. You can tell almost immediately what her emotions are at a given time. She can also act a bit naïve, though she covers this up with her usual attitude. She also has a tendency to make a simple comment into an innuendo; she is somewhat of a pervert and voyeur, after all.
likes:
dislikes:
Appearance:
Eye Color → Crimson, that shifts from light to dark depending on her mood. The darker the color, the more emotion she is feeling (usually anger). Her eyes always reveal her emotions even if she tries to hide it.
Hair Color → Silver, though it could also be called a very light blond. She denies this; she’s too awesome to be blonde!
Height → 5’6’’
Weight → ~130 lbs – her weight shifts all the time, between 120 and 145 at most. She is good at keeping her weight from showing.
Skin Tone → Pale
Defining Features → Her main defining feature is her silvery-blond hair that reaches down to her waist. It is usually twisted into a braid but is never curled, straightened, or pinned up. And you are always able to identify her by her custom silver knee-high boots with the three-inch heel. Her second unique feature that she doesn't prefer showing is the tiny scar on her cheekbone.
Additional Features → Maria is someone who is not afraid to wear tight-fitting clothing that shows off her very curvaceous figure and her long legs (and her cleavage, if she can get away with it). There is usually no modesty in her clothing, other than her “business” clothes. She is not very fond of wearing the more formal version of dresses and blouses, but she does so grudgingly. As a Prussian, she’s convinced that she can pull off the look of the business woman quite well. But she refuses to dress up in frilly, girly, and pink clothing. She has never liked dressing up, nor will she ever like it.
Favoring clothes with red, black, and silver hints, Maria looks more exotic than most women – especially paired with her unique hair color and her crimson eyes. She will always try to be the one person who can stand out from a crowd, and she is usually able to do so. It also helps that she has the crest of the Prussian flag tattooed on her right shoulder blade that she just loves to show off. Her eccentricity often shows in her clothing and behavior.
Fashion Style:
Casual outfits: what she sleeps in, what she lounges around the house in, another outfit, and a favorite of hers.
Dressy outfits: a favorite dress of hers -- doesn't usually wear dresses, but makes an exception; and her 'uniform' of sorts.
She also has a recreation of the feminine version of the Prussian uniform, complete with the iron cross.
Her favorite pair of boots.
Goals:
→ To earn her master's degree in fashion photography.
→ To travel the world
→ To own an authentic German bar right in the Big Apple.
→ To have her own photography business and have a website dedicated to her "awesome".
Secret:
→ She loves watching German soap operas.
→ She is currently lusting after her best friend.
Other: Maria's a bit of a secret romantic, and will deny this vehemently if asked. And she also wears glasses, just because she can. Not that she needs them; she thinks they're awesome.

Maria pouted at his words and slumped down in her chair, still keeping a hold on his sleeve. “I don’t know anyone here,” she whined slightly, “except those kids.” She pointed with a manicured nail towards a small group of underclassman; as if she would associate with them in the first place. They’d have to be cute and adorable by her standards to even consider. And her standards were high. High enough that really only Royals could interact with her without getting burned.
Except, of course, an adorable little Canadian. And that feisty Italian who had caught her eye. He was just so much fun to mess with~
“Later then,” she said, looking up at him with earnest crimson eyes. She was stubborn enough to find a way to convince him to join her. As much as she liked showing her body off, Maria preferred to be with a group of Royals and underclassmen who could admire her. The Prussian made vain look pale in comparison.
Maria pushed out her tongue, licking her lips as she listened to him. Her eyes flicked down his body – in a non-sexual way; she was not interested in her best friend like that – and noticed that his skin was rather flushed. “Ja, ja, I noticed. That’s why I’m not outside right now.” She made a face and rolled her eyes. “Heat kills my hair. Which is not awesome at all.” Undoing her braid, the Prussian threaded her fingers through the long, now curly silver strands.
She smirked slightly at Antonio, eying the sandwich. “Aw, did the little Belgian servant girl make that for you~?” she teased him, cackling. “How cute, kesesese~” Leaning over the side of her chair slightly to get a better look, Maria tilted her head curiously. Really, she wondered how people could only stand to eat sandwiches during lunch. Why not delve into salads or chicken or pasta or something? “Kind of a boring lunch though, don’t you think?” she asked, a bit flabbergasted despite herself.
The Prussian sighed heavily and sat back in her hair, pulling her hair up behind her head as she tilted her head back. Her entire body was warm from the sun’s heat through the glass ceiling, but gott did she want to swim. “Still no sweets?” Maria pouted again, not looking back at Antonio and fixing her gaze on a sort of cute boy across the pool from her. She couldn’t tell what class he was in though.
“We ought to go out into the town, you know? Stir up some mischief.” Maria grinned, ideas already filling her head and making her giggle. “The Duo shenanigans, kesesese~” The Junior might be a year younger than Antonio, but she knew how to be a commanding presence.
